Nursing Personnel are recruiting nursing agency stroke unit nurses for stroke unit nurse jobs across the UK. We are an NHS approved nursing agency on all nursing NHS Framework Agreements. This means Nursing Personnel can offer you continuity of work when and where you need it.
The stroke unit provides the initial investigation, treatment and care immediately following a stroke. Some hospitals have a hyper acute stroke unit (HASU) and patients will spend an average of 72 hours in the HASU before being transferred to their local stroke unit for ongoing multidisciplinary inpatient care. Stroke units see thousands of patients each year for hyper acute care for strokes and suspected strokes and offers a 24/7 thrombolysis (‘clot-busting’) service for appropriate patients, if they are able to come to the emergency department within four and a half hours of their stroke. In most cases patients have access to 24-hour hyper acute care and imaging, as well as vascular, neurosurgical and neuro-radiological intervention services. All patients are given secondary prevention information before discharge, as well as a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) number they can call for further information if required.
Nurses looking to work in the stroke unit will be expected to meet the below:
The post holder will take a key role in leading and developing the Stroke specialist nursing service across the organisation. Using advanced nursing practice; manage a cohort of patients referred for specialist intervention, care and support within Stroke services. Demonstrate highly developed and advanced specialist Stroke knowledge and skills through innovative practice leading to the development of increasing levels of autonomy. . Develop strategies to ensure practice development and education for other health care workers caring for patients within the Stroke speciality. The post holder will be a core member of the Stroke multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
Nurses must meet the below:
Nurses must be registered with the NMC
At least 6 months clinical experience in a stroke unit.
Have right to work in the UK
